Louise Ahl is an artist, choreographer and performer from Sweden, making experimental and choreographic performance and installation work. She creates both solo and collaborative multi-art-form pieces using movement, vocals, writing and sound. The work is often centralised around the relationship between the physical and metaphysical, exploring how we experience reality and make meaning of this world.

Louise’s work has shown across the UK (including Southbank Centre, BALTIC Centre of Contemporary Art, Nottdance Festival, Take Me Somewhere Festival, Submerge Festival, Tramway, Glasgow International and Experimentica Festival), Live Collision (Ireland), Tanztage Berlin (Germany), Movement Research at Judson Memorial Church (USA) and Critical Path (Australia) and has been supported through Creative Scotland, Arts Council England, Konstnärsnämnden, Jerwood Charitable Foundation and Australia Council for the Arts.

Key commissions have come through Dance4 (‘Intercourse’), Edinburgh Art Festival (‘Edelweiss, Edelweiss...'), Tramway (‘Holy Smoke’, ‘Hevi Metle’), The Yard Theatre (‘Lite Metle’) and Art B&B (‘Unless we dream, we doubt’). She was a New Associated Artist at Yorkshire Dance in 2012, a Tramway Associated Artist in 2015/16 and a 2017/18 recipient of the Starter Artist award through the National Theatre of Scotland. ‘For now we see through a mirror, darkly’ was nominated for a Total Theatre & The Place Award for Dance in 2019. Louise was a recipient of a Jerwood Arts Live Work Fund Award in 2021 and an Artist in Residency through enoa Immersive Residency Programme 2021/22.

Louise also performs and/or collaborates in other artists work such as Jo Bannon, Fritz Welch, Georgina Starr and Peter McMaster and is a band member of ZOMING FLAKES.
