A hypnotic surround sound installation commissioned for one of the bedrooms in Blackpool’s Art B&B Hotel. The installation is focused on choreographed sound and the experience of sound moving physically in the bedroom but also sound moving the bedroom guest internally in and out of meditative states. The sound becomes a body in the room through its movement and vibrations, enveloping the guest as another presence.

There are 5 tracks installed:

Part 1: A body of water (20 minutes of the sound of water from Blackpool beach moving around the room. This was created as an ambient track for relaxation)

Part 2: A bedtime story (12 minutes. A poetic bedtime story for adults inspired by Blackpool’s presence of stage hypnotists, including a composition for bells)

Part 3: A Lullaby (5 minutes. This lullaby is inspired by training exercises for lucid dreaming)

Part 4: A sleep meditation (18 minutes. A guided sleep meditation to help the guest fall asleep)

Part 5: A sunrise (7 minutes. An instrumental whistle track for a positive morning vibe.)

All audio tracks have been written, recorded and read/sung by Louise Ahl with sound design and composition by Yas Clarke.
